It’s nearly Christmas, and Tomas, one of the elves working the night-shift in Santa’s North Pole factory, is not happy. He and thousands of his kind have only one job – to work at the production lines creating thousands of copies of the same generic toys.
But Tomas is different, and, when his creativity gets him sacked from the factory, he discovers the truth behind the products of the elves labours. Piles of broken and discarded toys from previous years are washing up on the shores of the ice-caps….
Tomas is appalled, and stows away on Santa’s sleigh to find out what is going on. He discovers spoiled children breaking their toys, and follows the trail of rubbish from the dustbins to the trucks, to the dumps, and finally, across the ocean and back to the North Pole where the elves are, by now, working on next year’s gifts.
As he goes, Tomas collects broken and discarded toys, and when he returns, he shows them to the other elves, who then begin to create their own strange and creative designs.
At first, Santa disapproves, but after he understands the new, recycled presents, he, with Tomas at his side, delivers them to the children, and slowly the pile of rubbish at the North Pole begins to reduce…
